Dr. Tran Thi Thuy Ha

Project Manager, Eats Meets West Foundation (EMWF)

A former executive at The Research institute for Aquaculture VietNam, Dr Tran Thi Thuy Ha is both a researcher and a manager and is passionately invested in deepening the culture of research and application of biotechnology in aquaculture. She now works as a Program Director at East Meets West Foundation.

Dr. Ha headed up research on selective breeding programs for vital fish species including tilapia and cobia, seed production for freshwater species such as the common carp and DNA barcoding for catfish.

She holds a PhD on biotechnology in aquaculture from Hiroshima University Japan, completed in 2009 and has worked and trained all over the world including in Finland, France, Australia and the United Kingdom.

Dr. Ha is a natural team-builder and an outgoing networker. She regularly delivers guest lectures to Master of Science programs internationally, has published numerous articles and consults on research programs within her field.

Courage to make a change

“This is a new role, a new challenge but it seems that it fits for me. I also realize that I have a chance to work with all programs and many staff in East Meets West. It is very important to combine and manage the programs as well as set up a new governance system in EMW.”
